East Smethport, PA

Team Blair Racing visited McKean County Raceway Thursday night for the ULMS Series sanctioned event. After starting in the 13th position, Rob Blair would charge through the field for a solid 3rd place finish. Max Blair would take the lead in the FASTRAK feature just after completing lap one and go on to capture his 6th win of the season.

The Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series rolled onto the 3/8 mile oval for the 30 lap, Dave Lundgren Memorial. World of Outlaw driver, John Lobb of Frewsburg and Bump Hedman paced the 24 car field to John Powell’s green flag. The initial start was waved off as Lobb left early and the field was bunched back up for a second try.

This time Hedman beat Lobb down the backstretch to lead the opening lap. The opening lap saw another yellow for the cars of Denny Fenton and Ron and Dutch Davies. The green flag was dropped again as Mike Knight charged from third to the lead as Lobb came with “Hollywood” and Hedman would get kicked back to fourth behind Chad Valone. Lobb kept Knight within striking distance as the first third of the race clicked off. The Yellow lights came back on lap 8 for Jay’s Auto Wrecking Rookie of Year driver, Billy Dickson in turn three.

Knight refired the field as Greg Satterlee charged into second, but Valone charged from fourth to second and brought Lobb with him. Meanwhile Knight was sailing away as a torrid battle for sixth heated up with Matt Lux, Bob Close, Hedman and Rob Blair. A lap thirteen yellow tighten the field up again as Valone and Lobb were looking for a way around the 9k machine of Knight. Knight again charged into the lead as Lobb went back into second over Valone.

Knight began to pull away from the field as Lobb and Valone engaged in a vicious battle for second and Rob Blair started to make his presence known as he was creeping close to the top five. Lap twenty six would see the final yellow come out for Denny Fenton. As Knight refired the field in turn four, Valone got by Lobb. With three to go, Lobb got high in turn four to drop several spots as Satterlee, Blair and Matt Lux roared past. Knight was gone, but Blair was coming as he got past Satterlee with the white flag being shown as Knight rolled past the flag stand capturing the $3000 to win Dave Lundgren Memorial over Valone, Blair, Satterlee and Matt Lux.
