The Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series made their first visit of the year to Genesee Speedway in Batavia NY for their part of the Gladiator. With a Thursday night event and Genesee Speedway being the farthest northern track on the series schedule a small field of cars was present but the racing was still good to keep the fans on the edge of their seat.

Max Blair would set Integra Shocks Fast Time and capture one of the two heat events along with the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Pole Scramble.

Blair would lead the field to the green and lead lap one over Andy Boozel and Greg Oakes who were side by side at the stripe. Blair would open a sizeable lead over his competitors in the Viper Motorsports #111v Rocket Chassis. Despite Blair pulling away, Boozel and Oakes had separated themselves from the remainder of the field.

ULMS Chew on This Jerky Rookie of the Year driver, Deshawn Gingerich and Mike Smith were battling door to door for fourth with Bryce Davis in sixth. Blair saw the yellow lights come on with ten to go as a light rain fell on the track wiping out his big lead. On the restart Oakes went after Boozel using the high line and Davis moved into fifth. The lights came out for Mike Smith spinning in turn 3. The restart again saw Blair step on the big pedal at the Zimmers Service Center starting zone. Oakes used the outside line to get around Boozel down the back stretch as Gingerich, Davis and Dave Dubois were three wide behind them. Dubois would suddenly go pit side as Gingerich and Davis made contact in the back stretch as the 94 of Davis would grab fourth.

With two to go, Smith would pop a motor bringing out the caution. On the restart Oakes and Boozel would swap paint and with one to go Bryce Davis would slide by Boozel for third. At the checkers it was Blair, Oakes, Davis, Boozel and Gingerich the top five.
